Was ist

We often hear about the latest engagement hacks on other platforms like Instagram, TikTok, or X, formerly known as Twitter. But Google is consequential above all of these, acting essentially as the referee of the web. Yet deep knowledge of how its systems work is largely limited to industry publications and marketing firms — as users, we don’t get an explanation of why sites suddenly look different or how Google ranks one website above another. It just happens.

Bit by bit, the internet has been remade in Google’s image. And it’s humans — not machines — who have to deal with the consequences.

Warum KI Chance und Risiko zugleich ist

Wie TikTok Google zusetzt

Over 2 in 5 Americans use TikTok as a search engine.

Nearly 1 in 10 Gen Zers are more likely to rely on TikTok than Google as a search engine.

More than half of business owners (54%) use TikTok to promote their business, posting an average of 9 times per month.

1 in 4 small business owners use TikTok influencers for product sales or promotions.
In our studies, something like almost 40% of young people, when they’re looking for a place for lunch, they don’t go to Google Maps or Search. They go to TikTok or Instagram.
We keep learning, over and over again, that new internet users don’t have the expectations and the mindset that we have become accustomed to.
For a technology-addicted generation with short attention spans, there is little incentive to go out of our way to find new restaurant openings, or click beyond the first page of a Google search for nearby activities. TikTok videos with recommendations are quick, informative, and visually immersive—factors that easily convince us to try something new.

Wie Google zur Antwortmaschine wird

We want you to come to Google and quickly find what you want.
When you use Google, do you get more than one answer? Of course you do. Well, that’s a bug. (…) We should be able to give you the right answer just once. We should know what you meant. You should look for information. We should get it exactly right and we should give it to you in your language and we should never be wrong. That’s our challenge.
But the other thing that we’re doing that’s more strategic is we’re trying to move from answers that are link-based to answers that are algorithmically based, where we can actually compute the right answer. And we now have enough artificial intelligence technology and enough scale and so forth that we can, for example, give you — literally compute the right answer.

Wie sich Googles Ergebnisse verändern

We further observe an inverse relationship between affiliate marketing use and content complexity, and that all search engines fall victim to large-scale affiliate link spam campaigns. However, we also notice that the line between benign content and spam in the form of content and link farms becomes increasingly blurry—a situation that will surely worsen in the wake of generative AI. We conclude that dynamic adversarial spam in the form of low-quality, mass-produced commercial content deserves more attention.
These aufstellte: "Google Search Is Dying" (dkb).
